Abid Javed on the work

Part of the Abiogenesis collection, the piece explores sculptural themes in the process of biogenesis of biological forms; starting from an egg to embryogenic development where one cell becomes many. The lampbase form is a skeletal representation of an imagined specimen and the lampshade is a reflection of the cracked egg shell of the egg it came from. Together the lamp forms a sculptural dialogue between the body and the vessel.
