Beuzeval Furniture on the work

The Arch I & II chairs are handcrafted pieces made from sustainably sourced solid hardwoods, combining English oak with rich walnut inlays in the seat. The inspiration for the Arch chairs came from the wood itself; any imperfections in the wood shaped the design of the seat inlays.

The inlays are hand-cut into the seat and meticulously planed to create a seamless surface. Both Arch I & II chairs explore the relationship between strength, simplicity, and comfort, reflecting my practice in creating furniture that is both functional, timeless and beautiful. I draw a lot of inspiration from architecture and how it intersects with subtle organic forms found in nature. I often describe this as nature’s graffiti, using it as the starting point for a succession of sketches that gradually evolve into the final design.

The result is a chair with angled front and back legs, as well as a gently contoured backrest, all carefully developed to provide both visual balance and ergonomic comfort, with a unique pattern of contrasting wood inlays.
