Selfish Customs on the work

Pink Chair is part of Phase Objects, a collection developed following Selfish Customs' relocation to rural Suffolk. Inspired by the rhythms of the agricultural calendar and the surrounding landscape, the collection explores bold sculptural forms through a contemporary furniture lens.

The chair's distinctive pink finish references the iconic Suffolk Pink found on many of the county's traditional cottages, connecting local heritage with a fresh, contemporary palette.

The piece is hand sculpted in the studio using British gypsum, incorporating regenerative natural material - local reed for the seat. The result is a tactile, sculptural chair that balances expressive colour with material innovation and traditional craftsmanship.
