Joanne Lamb on the work
My delicate baskets have been inspired by my impressions and memories of the landscape, combining natural materials and textile processes to create intimate yet expressive vessels. I aim to convey my impressions of nature in the artworks - the traces that I’ve been left with.
I want my work to evoke a sense of being in nature, as if the vessels could be found amongst the flowers in a beautiful garden, before being placed on a mantlepiece to be treasured.
This work is inspired by Samhain, the Celtic festival marking the transition from one year to the next. Through the rhythms of harvest, falling leaves, and the quiet of winter’s approach, the work explores cycles of release, transformation, and renewal. It is a meditation on nature’s wisdom and the fertile potential held within endings and beginnings.
