The Lustre Chair draws inspiration from the British Windsor chair and the geometry of cut diamonds. It reinterprets the Windsor’s familiar language through straight lines, crisp chamfers and carefully resolved proportions, creating a contemporary chair that feels understated, precise and quietly expressive.
Where the traditional Windsor celebrates flowing curves, Lustre explores faceted surfaces. Each chamfer catches the light differently, allowing the chair’s character to shift as it is viewed from different angles. The name refers both to this optical effect and to the natural beauty of timber itself.
Crafted entirely from solid ash, the chair celebrates the material’s natural variation. The grain has been carefully composed, balancing lighter and darker tones to create a calm visual flow, while revealing the timber’s depth, texture and character.
Its construction reinterprets the Windsor chair’s structural intelligence. Each leg is connected through a laminated diamond-shaped joint beneath the seat, formed from seven layers of ash rotated by 60 degrees. This crossed-grain structure gives the chair strength, allowing it to remove conventional stretchers and achieve a lighter silhouette.
Although made from straight timber sections, the seat and back are carefully angled and faceted to create subtle ergonomic curves for comfort. The result is a chair that balances precision, warmth, structural innovation and visual calm.
